Conference Blessings

Conference weekend is my favorite weekend of the year. It never fails, whatever I am searching for, I am given through numerous conference talks. Elder Uchtdorf's talk last night reminded me of Elder Hugh B Brown's Current Bush talk. How wonderful it is to have a loving God to direct us, or cut us down and be our gardener, so that we can lift where we stand and help others around us.
This last week we sold our house in Utah. It is nice to finally begin moving on. BreighAn and I are going to wait a little bit before we try to buy a house of our own.
Yesterday I went and watched Aaron play a basketball game. I love how sports can be a training ground for life. Aaron is so athletic and full of potential it is amazing. Yesterday was just one of those days that comes when you play basketball that everything goes wrong. The only basket that he made was for the other team. He had three fouls in the first half, and his team lost by nearly fifty points. In life no matter how talented and hard we work, sometimes things go completely different than we had imagined. The important thing isn't to sulk, or to beat up on ourselves. The lesson learned is that we can write that off as a bad afternoon, or a bad quarter. As long as the next quarter, or game, we improve upon our last efforts. The Lord is more concerned with the direction we are heading than he is with our position on the "ladder." I love being part of a family that has pushed each of us to never settle for mediocrity. To have the individualism to succeed at whatever we chose. We have had great parents. Our parents are great because they have been humble enough to realize that they needed to follow great leaders like we are listening to this weekend. That's why I love Conference weekend. It is almost like getting the other team's game plan and ours for the next six months. By following it, I know we'll be successful.

  1. Well I thought I would be the first to comment on the monumental blog. BTW (by the way) I think Keegan should be spelt Keagan, but I can have that chat with him when he arrives.

Thank you for your conference remarks, it is indeed true that our Father knows us intimately enough to know when to guide us and when to let us 'figure it out' for ourselves. May his blessing be with you!

    Live Forever!
